Description
Course Description: Come along for a fun and engaging jaunt that will give you the courage to get started building your first Drupal site. Not only is it not as hard as you thought but it is positively down right easy and so remarkably rewarding to take the work of others and slap your name on it to make you look brilliant. By the end of today's session you will have an idea why everyone is making such a big darn deal about the Drupal stuff and you will have a link to download a template you can use to start your first site. We will assume that you know nothing about Drupal or even website development. The learner who would best benefit from the class is one who just figured out that they need a website and have heard about Drupal and want to see if this thing that the Geeks are so excited about is worth your time and energy.
Instructor Assumptions: We will assume that the learner has the intention to use a hosted Drupal solution that minimizes the amount that we will need to know about server issues. This course will focus on use of Drupal 5.x.
Course Outline*:
1. Drupal - Why should you care
2. Peruse a few example sites and get inspired, impressed or even a little intimidated
3. Consider the easiest route into your own site - a simple theme that someone else built
4. Pick-A-Theme Party
5. Explore the Aspects and ways to control a Theme
6. Fill in some important peices of information
7. Go Home and brag to your friends about your supreme geekishness (make sure you choose carefully who you choose to brag to - not everyone will understand what a big deal this is - don't bother explaining...It's a Drupal thing they wouldn't understand)
